Beagle leash training is an important part of your beagle’s training. Going for a walk with your beagle should be a pleasure for both of you.
Beagle Leash Training Video
In this video you see trainer Edmond Kan helping train three beagles not to pull and not to bark when they meet other dogs on a walk.
Some Important Lessons From the Video
- Reward the behavior you want to reinforce (being calm when your beagle meets other dogs, staying by your side when you go out for a walk, etc).
- Discourage the undesired behavior (the beagles in this video don’t get to meet new dogs while they are excited and bark. They need to learn to calm down first. Once they are calm and relaxed, they get exactly what they want).
- Don’t pull or jerk but learn to lead the walk. Keep the leash loose by changing directions.
